We have watched the film 'Disconnect' which emphasises on the idea of social online bullying. An aspect of the film focuses on a young boy who is being bullied at school, concluding with an embarrassing picture being posted all over the internet. This leads the boy into committing suicide. We have taken the inspiration from the effects of the boys' parents in this film, and plan to use this in our music video in some way as we feel that a lot of emotion can be conducted through seeing the effects of a traumatic event through the life of another person. This relates to our song choice 'Bedshaped' as the lyrics emphasise on death and quote 'don't laugh at me' which would be a usual thought of someone who was being bullied.
I have found the entire lyircs to the song and posted below:
'Many's the time I ran with you down
The rainy roads of our old town
Many the lives we lived in each day
And buried altogether
Don't laugh at me
Don't look away
Don't laugh at me
Don't look away
You'll follow me back
With the sun in your eyes
And on your own
Bedshaped
And legs of stone
You'll knock on my door
And up we'll go
In white light
In white light
I don't think so
But what do I know?
What do I know?
What do I know?
I know!
I know you think I'm holding you down
And I've fallen by the wayside now
And I don't understand the same things as you But I do
Don't laugh at me
Don't look away
Don't look away
You'll follow me back
With the sun in your eyes
And on your own
Bedshaped
And legs of stone
You'll knock on my door
And up we'll go
In white light
In white light
I don't think so
But what do I know?
What do I know?
What do I know?
I know!

I have highlighted the important lyrics within the song, the ones which create a sense of understanding and emotion. In yellow I have emphasised on the elements of death and loneliness and I plan to have some of these as close up lip syncs in my music video so that it looks as though the young boy in our video is talking to himself, sharing his thoughts through the lyrics within the song. In blue I have highlighted the plural and singular nouns, which within our video, will show a contrast between the bully and the victim, but also in some areas show a similarity. I find that this similarity is what makes the lyrics become more upsetting as it shows how cruel and misunderstood the bully is, and how confused and vulnerable the victim must be.
Concluding with not concluding to....
