What music means to me

Westlife were a typical band which were played around the house when I was young. This has always reminded me of my mum and typical routines which used to be applied during my childhood. I used to listen to this by CD. Listening back now brings back emotions of the past, as though it is a reflection of my childhood, whereas at the time I only knew it as a song which my mum likes.

Hozier - from eden is a song which I listened to a lot on my ipod or iphone when I am upset or depressed. This will in time I predict, generate these same feelings as I grow up and associate the sing with the emotions, but currently I find that this song sis quite calming and soothing.

Sean Paul - Get busy, reminds me of my first girls holiday as it was played in almost every club. However, it is a song which I used to enjoy when I was in my early teens. This may be a reason why it was so popular in a place where 18-30 year olds go to party, as it brings back memories of when we were younger, bringing back the memories of those times where we just started to establish freedom and independence to a small extent.

 

As we can see music has an effect on people in different way due to the social, cultural and personal experience which occur when listening to a particular song. The way which we listen to the song may also show the development of music and the change the way which it is played. CD's tend to remind me of my childhood. Ipods remind me of my teens and Iphones and iTunes are current nowadays. I will need to take this into account when creating my music video as the period of the music and feelings it cannote can be captured through the music video. I will also need to take into account my target audience, as the clubs on an 18-30's holidays play music which will relate and appeal to people of those ages, as it is very important to enable and secure the particular demographic which I am focusing on for my music video.
