Location Recce

We have thought about our location recce a lot, this is because we wanted to make sure we have created the right mood for our music video. Therefore for our band, we have decided to do it in a music room, instead of a practice room. This is because it gave us more space to film and could therefore give us better quality wide shots. We also thought that this space will give us enough room to put up a backdrop so that the composition of the shot wasn't messy. Already having the equipment in the room makes it quicker for us to film and this was essential as we did not have a very long time, therefore giving us longer to focus on the quality of the shots, rather than moving around props.
Here are some photographs we took once the location was set up ready to film. We found that the backdrop was quite see through, this wasn't what we wanted as it looks improfessional, however, it wasn't so obvious once the band stood in their positions.  We also though that by adding additional lighting, we could pull the focus away from the background. We also realised that by using Adobe after affects, we could bring up the contrast and this would make the black become more solid, alternatively making the background become more of a solid colour.

These are images of the lighting once set up. We have used dido lights to highlight specific areas such as on the drums. We did also gather some help from professional music video lighter, Ryan Nicol, which was very helpful as he shared with us some of his ideas about our music video and interpreted some of his own knowledge and experience to emphasise our original plans. We did use pink lighting, this was so that a calm mood was created and contrasted with the rest of the video, so it became evident this was the band and it was happening as a different part of the narrative.
